We were founded at the end of 2001 and officially accepted by the Third Age Trust as a u3a in early 2002.

Our founding chair was Mary Lawson.

Great Glen u3a merged with the former Oadby & Wigston u3a on 1st April 2024. Our working name is Great Glen Oadby & Wigston u3a. Our Registered name is Great Glen Interests Groups u3a.
